On 3 March 2010 the European Commission proposed

Europe 2020, a 10-year strategy for the advancement of
the European Union economy. The Europe 2020 strategy
has set five ambitious objectives to be achieved all across
the European Union by 2020 on employment, innovation,
education, social inclusion and climate change / energy.
Europe 2020 will be an important milestone in turning the
EU into a smart, sustainable and inclusive economy with
high levels of employment, productivity and social cohesion
to compete in a changing world.
